Welcome to Pigling Bland’s kitchen, with added bunting

March 22, 2013

I can’t believe that it’s taken me so long to get around to showing you the home of Pigling Bland. Sorry.

Luckily Dotcomgiftshop featured my blog on their site asked me if I’d like to”review” some bunting for them, so I thought it was a good time to show you the rest of the kitchen too. By the way, how do you review bunting? Its, pretty, bright, strong, a good length and basically makes it look like there’s always a party. Can’t go wrong really can you? This stuff is really thick material too so I think it’ll be fine to wash if it get kitchen-ified (£12.99). Love it. However, as you will see below, I think I might actually nab it for my blogging desk….

Here are just some of my favourite things about the Bland kitchen:

  • The Piquot-ware tea set which I “accidentally” bought on ebay and could never bring myself to sell on. I love how solid it feels, the history behind it, how it reminds me of my Nanna and how well it pours.
  • The Rangemaster Elan 90: (YES! It’s not “the oven of evil“) 3 ovens, 1 griddle, 1 wok ring, 6 gas burners and a glideout grill. Need I say more? (Oh and it turns out that no, you don’t need an oven window if your oven is reliable – though I did go windowless for aesthetic reasons)
  • Measuring cups which I won for my Winter Frasier in the Eric Lanlard comptetition, but actually come from DotComGiftshop.
  • Multicoloured shelves  in the baking cupboard. A little bit of happy every time you get the flour out.
  • The Freud caffetiere. Sleek and effective.
  • Kitchenaid…hello.
  • Old metal spice jars – once the property of my great grandma and now being used once again.
  • Hovis tin. Mr B bought it, it’s ace.
  • Vintage teacups. I have a bit of a collection. I like Poole pottery but these are something else. I forget what, and the cat is sat on me so I can’t move to check! Leave a comment if you want to know and I’ll find out.

Here’s a little record of the journey it went on to get there:

What a gorgeous kitchen area, I’m so jealous! And such a transformation from the before pics ;o)

It was painful at the time – poor Mr B was on the receiving end of incessant whinging!

Worth it in the end though ;o)

What a beautiful kitchen you have. Mine is the sice of a broom cupboard *sigh*. Love the bunting too and everything else really too!

Thanks Jac. It was a pain in the backside when it was coming together – several months of no sink, one microwave and cardboard on concrete floors. Also Mr B and I chose it all together. It’s not just *my* kitchen because he helped make it, which is ace.

Oh and financial help from parental quarters too!

Your kitchen is just so lovely, the colours and the cabinets are making me want to go back to wood. Great that you both chose the kitchen and I am sure it gets much use!
