The Great Beef Wellington Day

At 9am one morning recently I was greeted by a text message that merely read “We need to make beef wellington”. As you can probably guess, it came from a fan of the Great British Bake Off.

So, just over a week later I found myself in the kitchen of said textee, armed with a lot of meat and various other bits and pieces as we began to tackle our first beef wellington.

We used this recipe for the beef wellington and this recipe for the rough puff pastry (though I would chop in the butter, not rub it in)

Here is the delicious result:

    Looks fantastic, this is on the menu for us this weekend now, thanks to your inspiration.

    Oooh I have never made beef wellington before but it totally appeals! Beef in pastry, what’s not to like? I’m going to have to give it a go for Sunday lunch one of these day 🙂

      Seriously – do it, it’s delicious. It’a a bit faffy getting all the bits together, but I reckon now I’ve done it once it’s be a lot quicker. Also, make your own rough puff. It’s so easy.
