Tennis Ball Cake Pops
In a continuation of baking to support Team GB (since I’ve so kindly lent them my initials). I’ve decided to make tennis ball cake pops to support Andy Murray and Laura Robson. Also, I think I’ve discovered a better way to “inspire a generation” – fill all sports equipment with chocolate cake. I’d play tennis a lot more if I could eat the tennis balls after….

Go Team GB! You can do it.
I had a lot of left over cake crumbs from a previous disaster in the freezer, as well as a batch of custard flavoured butter cream so….. I defrosted both, whizzed them up togethers, squashed them into ball shapes using an icecream scoop and made them into chocolate tennis ball cake pops. Now Murray and Robson, go get us another gold please. Thanks!

New balls, please
I’m also entering these into Summer of Sport, hosted by Ren and Alphabakes which is hosted by The More than Occasional Baker and Caroline Makes. This month as the letter is “T” for Tennis.

The way to inspire more sport…fill all balls with chocolate cake
The cake is Ultimate Chocolate Cake recipe (the failure of it was me breaking the cake, not the recipe – it’s an excellent recipe) and the buttercream was custard flavoured – though any would do.
Love the tennis balls, you definately get gold.
He he, thanks. Shall we have a baking Olympics?
These look absolutely delicious and very clever icing!
So creative! Well done!
Beautiful! Chocolate and custard!! 🙂 My idea of Heaven
Can’t beat custard with ANYTHING. Mmmm. Thanks for entering
Love these! Inspired. wish I had had some yesterday to eat whilst cheering Andy on!
Thanks 🙂 There’s nothing like having a freezer taken up by cake crumbs in tuppaware to make you get creative.
This is such a great idea!! They look amazing, too. Eating sports-themed baked goods totally counts as the same thing as doing sport, right…?
My thinking exactly 🙂
I’m dropping by via AlphaBakes… these cake pops are so unusual and looks too pretty to eat!
